Whichever way you turn as you leave Coswig, you are always immediately in the countryside. Not only woods, vineyards and water but also history and art are to be found in abundance. Whether you want active recreation or culinary pleasures, you will find what you need along the Elbe in Saxony.

Friedewald

The Friedewald woods in the northeast of Coswig, predominantly a mixture of pine and oak, extend as far as the ponds of Moritzburg. Hiking and cycling routes, educational trails about the woods, viewing points, ponds and streams offer recreation right on your doorstep.

Spaargebirge Hills

Saxony’s smallest range of hills runs from Coswig to Meissen. From the Deutsche Bosel viewpoint in Sörnewitz, at a height of 182m, you can see as far as Dresden and sometimes Saxon Switzerland. There is a small botanical garden at the top of the Bosel.

Nearby destinations

By bike it is a short ride to Dresden, Radebeul or Moritzburg Castle, Meissen and the many villages along the Saxon Wine Route. Or, as a fast means of getting to Saxon/Bohemian Switzerland, you can take the rapid-transit S-Bahn or drive.
